Week one - Sin Juice, Vape, and Walking

Hello peeps, I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing so I'll just start talking.

On September 29th I left the comfort of the MTC and my amazing district to make the long travel to Washington... well, the distance wasn't long but between multiple bus rides, a flight to Seattle and then a connecting flight to Yakima 2 hours later definitely felt like ages. The first picture in the email is of Mount Rainer, which we flew right next to during the flight and it was breathtaking.

Once we arrived in Yakima I met a couple missionaries there to greet us and help us get going and we were off to the tiny tiny Mission Home. After a short orientation I was told my companion and area I will be serving in. My companions name is Elder Preston Clarke, and I'm currently serving in Ellensburg Washington over the Reecer Creek ward and the YSA ward.

When I arrived at my apartment I quickly put my bags down and was already out of the door, heading to a Friday night YSA activity... we made homemade pizza! (The people here are crazy)
One person called Salt Lake City "Mormon Disney World"

The first full day in the field was General Conference, and we were invited to watch it over by an inactive members home... his name is Greg and he's AWESOME. He has major mental health issues and can't handle social situations such as church so that's why he doesn't go, but he loves missionaries. I will say it was definitely interesting to watch General Conference with the smell of coffee in the air and a puff of vape being hit every 3 minutes... 😆
A good way to understand Greg's humor and personality is right when we walked in he said "Alright time to intimidate the greenies and brew some sin juice" which i learned is what he calls coffee. So after the first session we watched him play video games whiles talking about the talks and then just chatting about games. We watched the 2nd session at the YSA building then the 3rd back at Greg's, he told us a bit about his life and where it all fell apart, we're going to go to his house on Sunday so he can take the sacrament again.

The next day was really most of the same, but we also did some finding on the college campus and some apartments. Monday was tough, just physically. We played basketball in the morning for an hour, then walked like 5 total miles then played another hour with the YSA at night... my body was TIRED. Tuesday was hours and hours of finding on campus and knocking doors, we ended up getting 5 people who were interested and one who I really hope shows up to church and YSA activities, we have a meeting scheduled with him on Saturday, name is Jonathan. We also had my first and only member meal so far, chicken fajitas at the Wings! They have a cute dog and cat which made me miss Pip. To summarize, I'm tired, the people here are insane and my district is cool.
